STARS Mission: STeamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports ‘STARS’ provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities, resulting in empowering and enriching the quality of life for its participants.

STeamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports 'STARS' was founded in 2006 and is now in its 4th full ski season in operating the Adaptive Ski Programs at the Steamboat Ski Area. In winter 07-08, STARS booked 985 adaptive lessons for people with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. In winter 08-09, 2871 hours of ski and snowboard lessons were booked, while contracting 79 instructors and utilizing 144 volunteers. STARS provided volunteer “assists” for adaptive skiers participating in programs such as the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, Sunshine Kids, KVC and Horizons. STARS also partnered with another adaptive organization to run ski and snowboard camps.

The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, under an operating agreement with STARS, manages all reservations for STARS lesson programs.
