your Power of Possible
STARS mission is to empower and enrich the lives of people living with disabilities through adaptive recreational sports.
STARS offers a diverse range of year-round adaptive programs, including downhill skiing, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and water sports, among others. The true power of our adaptive recreational sports programs lies in their ability to break down barriers, build confidence, and create opportunities for participants to reach their full potential, regardless of physical or cognitive limitations. Through these experiences, we not only empower individuals to defy expectations but also inspire a shift in mindset - showing that with the right support, anyone can achieve more than they ever imagined and uncover their unique “power of possible”.
In Their Words
“Our team’s recent retreat at Steamboat Stars Ranch was an exceptional experience, and we highly recommend it for any organization seeking a rejuvenating and productive getaway. The ranch’s peaceful setting, comfortable accommodations, and abundant outdoor activities provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and team bonding.” Scott Dishong, CEO Make-A-Wish® Colorado
“I want to thank everyone involved for making this past week a fun, exciting and unforgettble trip.” I was struggling for years until I found adaptive skiing. I”m at my best when I”m around other Veterans and doing therapy that works. You make it so memorable as all the staff is so professional, caring and go above and beyond to ensure all veterans are getting the mot out of this experience. My faily is gratefl and thanki you as well, as they are overwhelmed the last few years that I have found therapy that works, and they can also enjoy. I believe your adaptive recreation will truly help me instead of an office with four walls, e.g. traditional therapy. Keep up the amazing work, as your impact is amazing.” Michael Gooler, Military Veteran
“Theo is bilaterally deaf and also has autism and participates in the summer camp and also skiing in the winter. I feel like we are all family and the fact that most of the staff stays the same is fantastic as it keeps routine and familiarity for Theo, which is key for him. I do not think that Theo would be able to participate in most of the activities if it were not for the generous scholarships and the wonderful staff. He gets to do things that he probably wouldn’t get to do if not for STARS. In the time that he has been with STARS, Theo has gone from skiing with tethers, to skiing on his own. He has increased his stamina from 1 hour when he started to almost all 3 hours! And the summer program is amazing as he has kayaked, gone horseback riding, biking, and hiking! We are truly grateful and blessed for everyone involved in STARS!” Jolene Giattini, Theo’s Mom
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in presenting me with a scholarship this winter. You have no idea how much your help has meant to me. It has enabled me to have time on the mountain, and spend time skiing in all the wonderful snow we have received this season. I have been able to get out in the community and get involved in an activity that brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I would also like to thank all of the STARS instructors for their time, and energy in teaching me. I would not have been able to explore and progress as much without their continued support, encouragement and assistance. Thank you all for the great tines and memories!” Horizons, Partner Organization
