STARS Western Adventure Camp - REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

The STARS Western Adventure Camp is for a variety of ages with cognitive disabilities and is designed to maximize the positive effects of therapeutic horseback riding and outdoor recreation. It consists of five full days of horseback riding in the morning and a variety of other outdoor activities in the afternoon. Participants will learn about the magical connection between people and horses. They will acquire the skills needed to not only take care of these beautiful animals, but also experience the thrill of riding a horse each morning.

Therapeutic horseback riding is one of the most beneficial activities for individuals with disabilities. The connection between horse and participant can lead to an increase in independence, communication, trust, self-confidence, and socialization. There are also many physical benefits including balance, strength, and endurance. Our horse leaders and side walkers are trained in the best practices of horseback riding and have ample experience working with people who have disabilities. Horse activities will not only include riding, but also ground activities such as learning about the horse body parts, tacking, and brushing the horse. In the afternoon, participants are transported off-site to participate in other activities such as biking, fishing, and cycling. The STARS Western Adventure Camp will provide a fun and safe environment for the participants to have fun and learn lifelong skills.

The STARS Western Adventure Camp will take place at the beautiful ZEN Ranch. 30100 County Road 14E Steamboat Springs, CO 80487
