KRISTIN WALTZ
Program Coordinator - Volunteers and Outreach
Kristin was working as a licensed professional counselor when she found a volunteer gig that led to a job managing the track chair program at Staunton State Park in Pine, Colorado. It was a return to the world of recreation and using it as a way to enhance people’s lives. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she received a bachelor's degree in recreation therapy from Ohio University. She spent 10 years living in Chicago, where she also earned a master's in vocational rehabilitation and mental health counseling. After a summer of keeping her car packed to go camping every weekend, Kristin realized city living may have run its course and decided to move to Colorado. She loves the lifestyle here and gets excited to see new adaptive equipment in action on the trails, slopes, and lakes!
Why I love STARS
“There is truly a place for everyone at STARS. Shared joy is a double joy, and it is a privilege to be a part of someone’s first or best day doing something they love. A shared challenge is half a challenge and it is also a privilege to stay present as an ally on someone’s harder days. At STARS, we can all show up exactly as we are and be celebrated!”
